Ultimate Parenting Guide in the Philippines.
7 TIPS on how to be a Good Parent.
As a Blogger Dad, I often get asked if there is a surefire guide for parenting, on how to be the ultimate success when rearing kids. I often have one simple answer - "There is no guide, or hack, on being the perfect parent." You just simply have to do your best and pray that it goes well.
We know that parenting is a universal adventure filled with ups, downs, and enough sleepless nights to rival the most thrilling horror movie. But once you are there, you have no choice but to adjust and just go with the flow.
Even as the Blogger Dad of Manila, and as a Parenting Dad Influencer, I am still no expert. I often mess up my parenting styles and make mistakes with my kids. However, as long as I forgive myself, learn from my mistakes, and try harder -- then I know that I am doing a good job.
For those of you newbie parents, here are my simple tips on how to survive parenting.
1. Balancing Parenthood and 'adulting' Duties" needs super Time Management skills.
In the Philippines, it's impossible to escape the duality of adulting and being a good parent. You simply have to work, pay bills, manage your household, and take care of the kids. If you do not know how to manage time and make a schedule - you'll find yourself at birthday parties, school events, and countless tasks that you simply have no time for.
Learn time management before becoming a parent.
2. The Tsinelas (Slippers) of Discipline
Every Pinoy parent has a secret weapon in their arsenal – the tsinelas. Yes, those humble slippers can turn any parent into a martial arts master. Just the sight of them is enough to keep kids in line. Forget timeouts or groundings; in the Philippines, we have the power of the slipper!
While I do not really condone spanking your kids, the simple point is that you need to discipline your children. You have one goal as a parent: to "raise your kids to be proper adults." If you love your kids, you will discipline them.
3. Malling: The Ultimate Parenting Hack
Philippine malls are like vast, air-conditioned kingdoms of joy for parents. They have it all: playgrounds, movie theaters, and, most importantly, free air conditioning! It's like a day at Disneyland without the price tag. Plus, if you've got a picky eater, just head to the nearest mall food court for some Jollibee. With malls, you can have experiences with your kids that you can all enjoy.
Take your kids to the mall regularly.
4. The Art of Feeding Your Child with Funny Sounds
In the Philippines, mealtime is not just about eating; it's an interactive experience. You'll find yourself making airplane noises, doing funny dances, and even singing the latest K-Pop hits to convince your child to take that one last bite of vegetables. Remember, it's not bribery; it's creative motivation.
5. Educate yourself always in regard to parenting.
We now have the internet to give us countless parenting advice, as a parent, you have to do your share of effort and make sure that you study and do your research. Being a good parent needs effort - so you spend time to learn and educate yourself on how to become a better parent.
This sets good parents apart from just parents.
6. Listen and spend time with your kids.
Make sure to treat your kids as human beings. They are people, and they deserve the respect of being a person. You should take time to communicate and listen to them constantly. Children have their own thoughts, personalities, and set of traits. Get to know them more and always give them the right to actually express themselves.
7. Remember how you were as a Child.
Parents usually always forget one easy parenting hack - how they wanted to be treated when they were a child. So once you become a parent, imagine yourself at the receiving end in any situation. If you were your child, how do you want your parents to deal with the scenario or situation? You will then realize that you were the parent that you needed.
So what is the Best Parenting Guide in the Philippines?
I can confirm as a Dad Influencer in the Philippines that there is no such thing as the best parenting guide. Parenthood in the Philippines is a delightful blend of traditions, quirks, and endless laughter. As long as you truly love your kids and exert effort - you will be an awesome parent.
Remember to cherish these parenting moments, it will not last that long. So, grab that tsinelas, pack some lumpia for the road, and enjoy the hilarious and heartwarming journey of parenting.
